My Hey! Look at My Toys! Action Figure Nativity Contest Entry

Here is my hastily thrown together entry into Reis’ contest. I had a much grander vision, but time is at a premium this time of year.

The cast for this production of the nativity includes:

Ned Flanders as Joseph
Meg Griffin as Mary
Splinter, Yoda, & Papa Smurf as the three wise men
Elsie the Cow, Dr. Zaius, and Snarf as Shepherds among the various animals
angel Pac-Man and dashboard angel are present for the event
oh, and of course Jack Jack as baby Jebus

can't wait to see all of the entries

If you’re here, you probably already read Hey! Look at my Toys!, if not get over there now for the fun.

Mars Attacks 50th Anniversary Approaches

I love me some Mars Attacks! Hopefully we'll see some fun new stuff in addition to the comics. I know Funko has some goodies planned for next year and I'm sure Topps will do some type of card set.

Can't wait to see what's on the way.

I'm still around

My dreams of a big Halloween countdown were derailed, but here are a few of my recent acquisitions:

The Trash Pack

These guys are awesome! You are looking at The Trash Pack by Moose Toys. They come in little garbage cans reminiscent of the ones M.U.S.C.L.E. figures came in. I am having a lot of fun with these. No time now for a full review plus I still have another twelve pack to open, so I’ll get some more pictures and details posted some time.

NEW Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Toys at BK

My earlier assumption about it being to early for the Simpsons toys at Burger King to be of the Halloween variety was wrong.

Head over to to check 'em all out.

For now, here's the Red Skull

Toy Room Work

Here are a few pics of where I'm at now. I hope to have things where I want 'em before the weekends over. Of course it's always evolving, as my interests and collection change.

The clear shelf below was my Muppet shelf (see above). I'll find a new home for them when the inevitable movie stuff comes out this fall.

With the Muppets cleared out, I'm going to give some of my Marvel stuff a place for now. I'd like to find a spot to get some my Universal Monsters stuff together too. The mix of monsters, Batman, Slimer & Darth Vader isn't working for me.

The Simpsons are comming back to Burger King

Was over at the Burger King kids page to see the current toy offering. Currently, it's Paper Jamz ::meh::

But then in the lower corner this caught my eye:

Sweet! It's a little too far from Halloween to be another Treehouse of Horror promotion, but it's The Simpsons none the less!

After the Mega Bloks and Funko additions to my Green Goblin army, I thought it's be appropriate to get the gang together.

Green Goblin Surprise

So while out this past weekend I stumbled across The Mega Bloks blind packed Marvel figures. At only $2.50 a pop, I grabbed two. I don't know too much about these guys, and wasn't expecting much.

My luck, I got two of the same figure, but it is an awesome figure.

Green Goblin has been one of my favorite Spidey villans since I was watching Spider-Man and his Amazing friends as a wee nerd on Saturday mornings so I was thrilled with my purchase, despite the double.

I am super impressed with the quality and detail on him. His head sculpt is sweet. My only complaint is that he can't stand while on his glider. A problem I remedied with an old Lego piece.

If I ever come across these again I will definatley grab a few more.

(Sorry for the crappiness of the picture, but I'm still working from my cell camera.)

Six Months Down . . .

Half way through the year and I have made some progress towards my 2011 goals. My toy room is taking shape and looks better than it has in years. I have kept up this blog kinda, even though I have been negligent of it for more than a month now, but it’s still here. Not having a camera is killing me, just not in the budget right now. I have scored a few cool items to share as soon as I get a functional camera.

It’s July and that means San Diego Comic-Con. Every year about this time I lament my inability to make the trip and swear I’ll have my act together for next year.

So, next year, Comic-Con or bust!

Seriously though, despite being stuck here in Buffalo I will still be following the con news and taking in all the cool announcements and toy pictures. Looking forward to seeing some seriously cool stuff this year.

I was over at Hey! Look at My Toys! and Reis mentioned a thirty one day October blow out. I’ve been reading X-Entertainments Halloween countdown for years, and watched as more and more folks got in on the spooky fun. This year, I’m going to give it a whirl. A post a day, every day in October, even if it’s just a quick picture.

Finally, I want to attach a picture to this post. So inspired by jboypacman over at Revenge From The Cosmic Ark I’ve dug into my Flickr archives and found my Battle Beast pics. These pictures are really rough, so I definatley want to re-shoot these guys.

My digital camera died

BUT, I recently scored this guy and had to share, so here's a photo from my cell. This is my first Playmates Trek figure (not counting the most recent movie line), and now I want lots more.

Playmates Khan

He is so freaking great, even came with a bowl of the mind control slug things and application tongs!

I love how simple and sturdy he is, but yet immediatley KHAAAAANNNN!

So, anyways, this page will be pretty stagnent until I get a new camera. I'll occasionally post a cell photo when I can't contain myself.

Batman back at McDonalds

Looks like I'll be stopping by McDonalds soon

Each Happy meal comes with a set of three toys! This picture is small, a screen grab from the website, but as I clicked through, I found

  • Bat Mite

  • Haunted Coach

  • Plasticman is a car

Still want the monster.

Freaky Geeks

I visited my local K-Mart today, and while the toy aisle was a disappointment, I found these in a vending machine on my way out.

Well worth the 50 cents each, hope to stop back with more quarters soon.

Someone even made a "commercial"

Thor at 7-11

Continuing it's annual tradition, 7-11 is once again promoting some of the summer event type films. I picked up these Thor Slurpee bottles and straws on Friday. I can only assume we'll see Captain America stuff later this year as well.

My first MOTUC

At about $30 a pop after shipping, I can't afford too many of these. I'd like to get my hands on a few key characters some day. For now though, this guy will have to be content hanging with these guys.

He-Man 200x, Vikor, vintage He-Man and Thundarr I-Men

Tron Legacy will be out on DVD soon. I really liked the original and the new one was fun. The original more for nostalgia's sake. When I was a kid I wanted to hang out at an arcade like Flynns. Sadly all I had was the one relegated to the far end of the less traveled wing of the mall. Before the new movie opened, I followed all the comic-con stuff and viral marketing a little bit, and also took a look at the official site. While there I entered the obligatory promotional sweepstakes. I had all but forgotten about it until I got an email last month. I was selected as a winner. Cool, I assumed I'd won a poster or a copy of the video game. I don't even own a current game system right now so I wasn't too excited. I read through the prizes I had won. An X-Box 360, a copy of the movie game, a Tron controller, Tron skin, blah, blah, etc., etc., Awesome! An X-Box, sweet. I cut to the end of the prize list, "total value of prize $3500" WHAT!?!?!? Why so much?
$3500, let me read that again. Oh, wait, here's the part I missed . . .

"Classic Tron Arcade Game (ARV: $3,000)"

It was delivered on Monday, a restored, vintage Tron arcade machine. I have the keys, acess to the quarter bucket and the free play button. It has a few minor cosmetic flaws, but it is awesome. A childhood dream come true, I own a full size upright arcade machine.

It is very surreal to come home to this:

I picked up a few packs of these on a whim last month. I like the idea of blind packed figures, these are kind of underwhelming though.

They're kinda like Crazy Bones, are made by Topps and come three to a pack with a matching sticker.

I looked for more info online, but Topps doesn't even mention them on their official site.

These got me thinking of how much fun a licensed line could be.

Think Marvels Handful of Heroes only more stylized and sold blind packed. Or The Simpsons, now that would be awesome. Tiny little Simpsons figures sold blind packed would be killer. Just sayin'.

February has been crazy for me so unfortunately I haven’t had much time for this. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a load of stuff to share. It also been a very interesting month, and I’m hoping to have a huge reveal soon. More on that soon.

Theme Park Characters

I've been meaning to take pictures of this set for quite awhile. I picked it up while on vacation last year after seeing some of the figures on Flickr.

This is a great set, with characters unique to both parks.

Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion have lots of merch of there own so I didn't really pick this up for those two.

Plus having one of the Hitchhiking Ghosts makes me feel like the other two are missing.

The Small World figure would have been better if it looked more Mary Blair-ish, something is a bit off.

I'm surprised they commited to the Matterhorn Abominable Snowman rather than use a non-labeled hybrid monster that they could also pass off as the Yeti from Expedition Everest. Surprised but pleased.

Big Al from Country Bear Jamboree is awesome. I love this show, want figures of the whole cast.

The Tiki Room is also awesome and probably my favorite in the set. The tiki backdrop makes this little PVC figure feel more like a diorama.

Wish they made more stuff like this, for that matter, wish they'd create more original characters and stories for the parks.

Please excuse the pealing decals and the dust, but this baby is straight outta my childhood. Hondo MacLean and his truck Firecracker fought alongside Optimus, some Go-Bots and some random Robo-Force guy. I had only one other M.A.S.K. vehicle in my fleet, a mortorcycle that’s long gone. I don't recall ever wanting this, my folks probably grabbed it on clearance, but it was a lot of fun.

The chrome is missing in places, but the action feature still works like a champ. I just slide the little black button on the wheel well, and Hondo is ready for battle.
